UUSJ may elect not to award in every category based on the total submissions in a category. \u00a0The judges\u2019 decisions are final.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Eligibility Requirements for Nominees<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nomination(s) must be submitted in full and final form by the announced submission deadline (August 26, 2019)<\/span><b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nominator must obtain the acknowledgement of the congregation\u2019s minister\/senior leader of the nomination(s) being submitted, which includes review of the nomination text.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submissions must be completed online by completing the online form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Awardees may only receive one award each award cycle.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals or groups that have been recognized with a UUSJ award are not eligible to receive the same award in two sequential award cycles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UUSJ Executive Committee Officers are not eligible for awards. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Award Criteria:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The extent to which the work description matches the description of the award.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The quality of the project\/work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The impact on whom project was directed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The length of time the effort has been underway.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether the project described and methods used are replicable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether the project is sustainable if it is meant to be.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What roadblocks\/challenges were needed to be overcome, and what methods were used to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What motivations caused the congregation or leader to pursue this project or idea. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How program got people excited about taking action.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Congregational Awards<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Collaboration Award<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 effective congregational social action\/justice program reflecting and elevating UU values and principles that has involved cooperation with another UU congregation(s), other faith based groups, and\/or non-religious organizations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Racial Justice and Beloved Community Award &#8212; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">work, witness and\/or advocacy by congregations or program leaders who are transforming their ministry through racial justice and inclusion, carrying out one or more of these actions: confronting racism and oppression as barriers to social change and healthy human relations; building multicultural community and solidarity; achieving diversity in congregational membership, leadership, and staffing. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Congregational Social Justice Program Award<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 creative, inventive, and\/or transformative congregational program that can serve as a model for other congregations. \u00a0These programs make a significant contribution to social justice and\/or advocacy that encourages both learning and action across a broad span of congregation members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Economic Justice Award*<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 effective work, witness and\/or advocacy for the systemic changes needed to promote a more just economy and compassionate society.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Environmental\/Climate Justice Award*<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 effective work, witness, and\/or advocacy in response to environmental challenges and climate change.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Immigration Award*<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 effective work, witness and\/or advocacy that can serve as a model for the ways to transform concern into action for justice for immigrants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Defending our Democracy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">* &#8212; effective work, witness and\/or advocacy that supports using our votes to support the principles we share.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Individual Leadership Awards<\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><b>Minister\/Senior Leader\u2019s Award<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 leading, inspiring, supporting and\/or expressing effective social action reflecting UU values and principles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Emerging Leader Award<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 an individual who is emerging as a lay leader inspiring, supporting and expressing effective social action reflecting UU values and principles. \u00a0This may be a youth (ages 13-18), young adult or someone who in newly inspiring and supporting of effective social action.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Lifetime Achievement Award<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 an individual who has spent at least 20 years as a lay leader supporting and expressing effective social action reflecting UU values and principles.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*UUSJ currently has these four priority issues;
