There was a two-day public hearing in Charleston, West Virginia, on November 28-29.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.regulations.gov\/comment?D=EPA-HQ-OAR-2017-0355-0002\">Submit a comment<\/a>\u00a0to the EPA and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/act.nrdc.org\/letter\/clean-power-plan-171010\">send a message<\/a>\u00a0to Scott Pruitt. You are invited to pull from the bullet points below, but we recommend that you write a unique comment using your own words so that comments are not bundled together and counted as only one message.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As a person of faith, I call on the EPA to not repeal the Clean Power Plan, but instead strengthen the Clean Power Plan to reduce power plant pollution and address the dire threat of climate change in ways that create environmental justice by protecting frontline, low-income, Indigenous, and people of color communities, as outlined in the Climate Justice Alliance&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourpowercampaign.org\/ourpowerplan\">Our Power Plan<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The Clean Power Plan is necessary to help prevent man-made climate change\u00a0from\u00a0causing increasingly\u00a0devastating\u00a0impacts, such as the severity of hurricanes.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13542 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/uusj.net\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/factory-pollution2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The Clean Power Plan creates national standards for carbon pollution from power plants and helps states develop and deploy clean energy alternatives.<\/li>\n<li>The poor and vulnerable in front-line communities, along with\u00a0our descendants worldwide, will be hit the worst by climate change.<\/li>\n<li>The U.S. is still legally bound to the Paris Climate Agreement in spite of recent statements and the Clean Power Plan is needed to\u00a0fulfill the U.S.\u00a0Nationally Determined Contribution\u00a0made at the Paris Climate meeting.<\/li>\n<li>The Sabin Center of Columbia University has filed an amicus brief in support of the Clean Power Plan on behalf of the National League of Cities, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and 54 U.S. cities, counties, and mayors.<\/li>\n<li>We must transition to a bright new renewable energy future. As one of the most effective tools we have right now to fight climate change and protect the air we breathe, the Clean Power Plan is part of that future. Don\u2019t destroy it\u2014strengthen it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take action to protect our future, the health of marginalized communities, and future generations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Also related is the intent of the EPA to collect information from the public upon likely repeal of the Clean Power Plan. The following information is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/stationary-sources-air-pollution\/electric-utility-generating-units-advance-notice-proposed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the EPA website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EPA issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) to solicit information from the public about a potential future rulemaking to limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing electric utility generating units, commonly called power plants.<\/p>\n<p>The ANPRM does not propose new regulations or requirements; rather, it offers the public the opportunity to comment on specific topics for the Agency to consider in developing a potential future proposed rule.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*Comment deadline has been extended to Thursday, April 26, 2018* The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold three listening sessions on the proposed repeal of the Clean Power Plan.
