The new Statement of Conscience (SOC), Our Democracy Uncorrupted, calls on us to live out our 5th Principle, “…use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.” The SOC was adopted with amendments, and will be available in final form soon but you can read the draft pre-GA SOC HERE.

It calls on UUs as individuals, in congregations, in districts and state legislative ministries, and the UUA itself to take bold action to support living up to our democractic ideals, including advocating for free, fair, and regular elections; promoting meaningful channels of political participation and basic individual liberties, including ways to improve our own denominational policies and practices. The SOC encourages congregations to participate in “…UUSJ’s “Write Here!
