Support the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

UUSJ’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Corps will focus on supporting SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) during its visit on April 10. Threatened by proposed budget cuts and tougher eligibility requirements, SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) provides nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families as the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net.

In March, the Advocacy Corps focused on supporting the Johnson Amendment, which ensures that houses of worship with tax-exempt status cannot endorse candidates for public office. Nonprofit organizations and many faith groups, including UUSJ, raised stiff opposition to repeal efforts.Support
