Kelsey serves on the board of Charlottesville (VA) Unitarian Church. She joins us from her most recent position as the Regional Organizing Director with the Tom Steyer presidential campaign.
“I’m thrilled to be able to do this work,” Kelsey says. “We’re in the middle of such an important historical moment right now, and helping people exercise their right to vote when so many forces are aligning to prevent that is more important than ever.”
Working as an organizer for UUSJ and the Reeb Project, she looks forward to both connecting with and helping build a strong network of committed voting rights advocates in our targeted communities across North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Kelsey is a member of the steering committee for IMPACT Justice Ministry (a grassroots, interfaith community organizing group dedicated to addressing equity issues). She is passionate about ballot and voter access, interfaith community building and environmental justice.
Kelsey grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and began her career in politics by working in the national office of Bill Bradley’s presidential campaign while still a student at Oberlin College. After the campaign, Kelsey did doctoral work in musicology at the University of Chicago and UCLA and taught at the university level for several years. She then pivoted to working in nonprofits and political organizing in her beloved adopted home of Charlottesville, Virginia.
