Immigration Task Group

We are also very troubled by the latest anti-immigrant actions court decisions that may allow the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), resulting in deportations starting next Spring. Protest rallies and legal appeals are underway. However, most immigrant advocates say only a change in administration will provide a legal pathway to citizenship.  for TPS holders who have lived and worked in the US for over 20 years.

Finally, we strongly oppose a public rule change proposed by the Department of Homeland Security to expand the types of biometrics collected from immigrants as well as expanding the list of those required to appear for them (and pay the fee). It adds children under 14, who are currently exempt. It also adds sponsors and petitioners – including US citizens –of immigrant applicants. There are only 30 days to comment on the DHS proposal,   Comment by October 13 at Federalregister.gov, Collection, and Use of Biometrics by US Citizenship and Immigration Services. (Docket USCIS-2019-0007).
