Power Sunday has been launched!
UUSJ introduces “Power Sunday,” where we ask Congregations to preach about the state of U.S. democracy and our church’s role in strengthening it.

The premise of this worship service is that democracy is being threatened, but we are not powerless; we all have meaningful ways to save our democratic system. One way we can empower democracy is to commit to being an active part of civil society, which means committing to our institutions. This includes our home churches and UUSJ, which is the only national UU organization lobbying for our values on the Hill. We hope people will leave worship on Sunday feeling empowered, connected, and hopeful about what’s next for our collective work and our nation.
UUSJ emphasizes federal policy priorities important to Unitarian Universalists and helps frame the discussion of political issues within our congregations through education and engagement. We engage in advocacy because federal government legislation and policies have a systemic impact. Together, we can help our nation’s legislation and policies to become more just.
