Stand up for Working Families. Oppose the SNAP Rule Change by September 23, 2019!

The Administration is proposing to gut states’ options to eliminate SNAP asset tests and use a higher income test to serve more working households that have significant expenses for shelter and childcare. The USDA proposal would eliminate SNAP (i.e., food stamps) benefits for 3.1 million individuals, take free school meals away from the children in those families, and punish people with even meager savings. It is unacceptable to take food away from working families, children, seniors and people with disabilities. The Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ) urges you to submit your comments and take actions.

Voice your concerns regarding this proposed rule change by making a public comment via Regulations.gov NO LATER THAN SEPT 23:

• Write a letter and mail it to Program Design Branch, Program Development Division, FNS, 3101 Park Center Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22302. Be sure to note Docket Number 2019-15670.

1. I do not support the revision of Categorical Eligibility for SNAP.
2. Children should not go to bed hungry, nor go to school hungry.
3. Stop endangering vulnerable people.
4. As a taxpayer, I want my taxes to assist those most in need in this country.
5. SNAP plays a critical role in addressing hunger and food insecurity in our community. It is the first line of defense against hunger for low-income residents.
6. It is Unacceptable to Take Food Away from Working Families, Children, Seniors and People with Disabilities.
