“What is Health Justice and Inequality?”

with Margaret Flowers

“What is Health Justice and Inequality?” a webinar with Margaret Flowers, co-founder of PopularResistance.org. The thought of health justice in conjunction with inequality can bring to mind a myriad of issues, from costs of care to access limitations and opportunities. Did the Affordable Care Act “Obamacare” help? Should we protect what we have, or work to improve it? If single-payer is the answer, how do we get it?

Dr. Margaret Flowers is a pediatrician and mother from Baltimore, MD. Margaret left medical practice in 2007 to advocate full-time for single-payer health care. She served as Congressional Fellow for Physicians for a National Health Program and on the board of Healthcare-Now! She has organized and participated in protests for health care, peace, and economic justice, which have included arrests for nonviolent resistance. Margaret is a co-founder of PopularResistance.org, which is a resource and information clearinghouse for the movement of movements, providing a daily stream of resistance news from the United States and around the world, as well as a national events calendar. Popular Resistance campaigns include Clean Up the Mines, Creative Resistance, Health Over Profit for Everyone, It’s Our Economy, Protect Our Internet, Trade for People and Planet, and We Are Cove Point.

This webinar is one in a monthly series of webinars alternately hosted by the UUs for a Just Economic Community (UUJEC) and UUs for Social Justice (UUSJ). This webinar is hosted by UUJEC.
