Mobilizing Voters for the 2016 Elections

In the United States, the right to vote is a hard-won privilege that gives citizens an opportunity to influence government. When casting a ballot, voters express their preferences for a candidate or views on issues. The contentious political climate in the US today is giving voters a lot to think about. For UUs, guided by our 5th Principle, we are committed to encourage voter participation and advocate for election reform and voting rights.

UUSJ has received a special grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility to support a regional voter education, voter registration and Get Out the Vote program leading up to the November elections. Eight congregations signed on to partner with us and will send representatives to the project leadership team:

All Souls Church, Unitarian, DC
Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA
Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Manassas, VA
Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, Bethesda, MD
Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church, Alexandria, VA
River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Bethesda, MD
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville, MD
Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, Lutherville, MD

This program is open to all UU congregations in the national capital area. Please contact Anna Rhee, rheeoh@gmail.com, if you’re interested in partnering with us.
