“Resist and Rejoice” at General Assembly in New Orleans

Event Details

Off-site participation is available.

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our UU congregations. Among the key issues this year will be debate on the Statement of Conscience on Escalating Inequality, and election of a new UUA president. For all GA details, go to uua.org/ga.

Several area UU congregations submitted comments on the early draft of the Statement of Conscience, and although the revision is shorter and overall better, it likely will foster significant debate before it is voted on by the delegates. The current draft can be found on the UUSJ Escalating Inequality Task Group page.

To prepare for GA, join one of UU Association’s Zoom webinars on What General Assembly Delegates Can Expect at GA 2017 and read the UUA Presidential candidates responses to questions on food justice, climate justice, and from Black Lives UU.

The Climate Justice track at GA, with the theme of “Seas are Rising and So Are We”, will be extensive—nine workshops with 15 partner organizations. For details, check out the UU Ministry for Earth flyer.
