UUSJ Launches Capitol Hill Advocacy Corps

Advocate for Earth’s Future

On September 12, the UUSJ Capitol Hill Advocacy Corps, will join with the inter-religious community in celebration of Season of Creation, September 1 – October 4, celebrated around the world each year with prayer services and care for creation activities. Join the prayer service at 9:30am at the United Methodist Building, 100 Maryland Ave., N.E., followed by visits to senators’ and representatives’ offices to share our concerns for the Earth including adequate funding for environment and climate justice programs. UUSJ Advocacy Corps Orientation and Advocacy Day

UUSJ’s Advocacy Corps made its inaugural visit to Capitol Hill on Valentines Day and hand-delivered 159 letters written to Virginia Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. The Advocacy Corps members included 19 members from seven area congregations and visited senators’s offices from both Maryland and Virginia. Read more…
