The Poor People’s Campaign — Through 2020 and Beyond

You may recall, both UUA and UUSJ endorsed the Poor People’s Campaign (PPC) and have committed to fighting: the distorted moral narrative, systemic racism, poverty, the war economy and ecological devastation as important intersectional and interfaith social justice work.

The PPC Campaign launched in 2017 and, in 2018 organized 40 Days of Moral Fusion Direct Action, the most expansive wave of nonviolent civil disobedience in modern history. Hundreds of UUs participated nationwide.

Rev. Michael Crumpler, UUA LGBTQ & Intercultural Programs Manager, offers Arrested for Justice, on being arrested for the first time in his life and his reflections on the experience of doing so with the Campaign.

Rev. Abhi Janamanchi Cedar Lane UUC, MD and Rev. Dr. Beth Johnson,  Palomar UUF, CA spoke at major rallies during the 40 Days.

Join UUs attending from across the nation to help show solidarity at the Congress.  Everyone who attends will be there for the four key elements:

  1. Release of the Moral Budget
  2. A forum with presidential candidates
  3. A National Freedom School full of trainings and workshops
  4. A Congressional Hearing on Capitol Hill

During the Moral Action Congress, people from all over the country will convene on Capitol Hill to help frame the national political narrative around our issues and the real emergencies facing 140 million people.
