The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington D.C., featuring the Rock Creek Singers and Potomac Fever will perform this benefit concert for People of Faith for Equality in Virginia (POFEV). POFEV is an interfaith collaboration that seeks equal rights for all citizens through prayer, education, organization, and advocacy while challenging those who equate religious faith and intolerance.
We need OUTDOOR EVENT volunteers for the following times/tasks
EARLY MORNING-Unload equipment, tables, chairs, stage
10am-12 noon Set-up tables/chairs
12pm-5pm (2 hour increments) Safety Patrols, Traffic control “Hosts”,
Stage Crowd Control “Hosts”, Safety Aids, Booth Assistants
5pm-6pm Clean up, Equipment packing
Equality Virginia will be “On the Road” in May, hosting “I am Transgender” events in Fairfax, Norfolk, Richmond, and Roanoke
Equality Virginia chose the weekend of May 17 and 18 for the CookOUTs this year becauseon May 13th, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear oral arguments for Bostic v. Schaefer. Join EV that weekend by celebrating the marriages that Virginia does not yet recognize, sharing your stories, andposting photos of your weddings and CookOUTs as a way to show support for the couples in this case!
Hudson will join the Washington DC/Tyson’s chapter of pride@kpmg to talk about the issue of LGBT bullying, and how his organization is working to stop it
All students, including those who are LGBT or gender non-conforming, should experience learning at school without the harm or fear of bullying or harassment, and The Safe Schools Improvement Act (SSIA) and Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA) both protect children’s well-being at school, delivering an environment where they can learn without discrimination or fear.
